Jodie Munshaw, Landscape Designer
The daughter of a horticulturalist, Jodie’s love of everything outdoors and of science in general began at an early age. Through high school her class schedule was filled with biology, chemistry and physics and she spent her summers employed with the Conservation Authority working in the various parks.
Jodie studied landscape design at Fanshawe College in London, ON graduating with a Co-Op Diploma in 1997. She went on to further her studies by completing a Post-Graduate Certificate from Humber College in 3D for Design Professionals in 2000 and receiving her Professional Florist Diploma from the Canadian Institute of Floral Design in 2008. She complete and passed her Certified Landscape Designer exam in 2006 – currently one of less than a 100 in Canada that hold this designation!
Since graduating she has been presented with many opportunities in which to build upon her education and broaden her skills and knowledge. Her design career began working with Reeves Florist and Nursery in Woodbridge where she worked with hundreds of clients designing residential landscapes. She then went on to join DynaSCAPE Software (formerly Garden Graphics Inc), a leader in software for the green industry where she trained hundreds of landscape professionals across North America in the use of a CAD based landscape design software as well as providing technical support to the user base. She also taught at the well known Niagara Parks School of Horticulture in Niagara Falls, ON.
In recent years, Jodie’s love has returned to being outdoors and designing the gardens, outdoor entertainment spaces and bringing joy to her clients. She is actively involved on the board of the Landscape Designer Commodity Group with Landscape Ontario.
Jodie has a keen knowledge of plant material, colour and plant combinations and an eye for detail. She enjoys working with both natural and pre-cast products but strives to bring as much native and natural materials into a site as is suited. Jodie works alongside her clients to bring their dreams to life, whether the project be a small one day project or a multi-year back yard transformation, each job is given the same attention to detail.
